THE KAIAPOI SEAT.
TO THE EDITOR. OF THE PRESS. Sir, —Your correspondent yesterday entirely misrepresents Mr Budd o'a views" In the authorised aud revised versions of that gentleman's speech he says :—" I am what will. be termed a fairtrader, and I deprecate high protective duties being imposed for industries." -Your correspondent would have us believe that the Government candidate for Kaiapoi is a protectionist, and in favour of a substantial assistance to our local woollen factory. As there is 25 per cent, on woollen goods, I gave my adherence to Mr Buddo's cause under the impression he was going to.ren_.V3 some of the duties which press heavily on workiug people. "Elector "has raised so much uncertainty about Mr Buddo's pontics, that now I shah not r vote for him since being so grossly deceived.—Yours, Sec, .. - Indignant Elector.
