NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
A special general meeting of the members of the W.C.T.U. will be held at -he rooms, Manchester street, to-morrow at 3 p.m. The seats for (he Orchestral Society's concert at the Tuam street Theatre on Thursday evening have been very largely reserved. Yesterday the plan opened, and nearly all the seats have already been taken. - ~
To-morrow evening the Catholic Bishop, Dr Grimes, will give a public address on ** What are the Catholic claims'' at the Boys' Schoolroom, Barbadoes street south, at eight o'clock.
TJhe consecration of the new Masonic Lodge "Christchurch," under the New Zealand Constitution, and the installation of the W.M. and the investiture of his officers, will take place in the St. Augustine Hall on Tuesday, sth December, at 6.30 p.m. The march out of the Christ's College Volunteers, announced for Saturday, 25th inst., has been postponed out of respect to the late CoL Lean.
A meeting of persons interested in the New Zealand Rifle Association and desirous that the next meeting should be held in Canterbury,, will be held at the Clarendon Hotel to-morrow at 7.30 p.m. The annual show of the Courtenay Agricultural and Pastoral Association will be held at Kirwee on Friday next.
The first tram excursion to Sumner for the season will take place this evening at 7.15.
