The position held by the Club in the Senior Cup contest could hardly be called a proud one, "dead he»f for the fourth Dlace. Tne report pointed out the weaKness of the Club through want of practice. Iq averages the Club compared favorably with the other Clubs, both in batting and bowline. Of the individual averages A Harman came first witn 4i.ou. Other very respectable averages were W. J.Cotterill H7.12, R. B. Math las 2ft 00, and B. Lane, T. D. Harman, A. C. Rol- | leston and J. F. Hartland had also done weU. In the bowling averages, R. B. Mathiae rauked first with 9.76 per wicket. In the interprovinclal match with Otago the Club was well represented, three of its members being engaged in the match, which tiie Committee considered very satisfactory considering the few players to select from. Owing to want of time the full number ot rounds for the trophy were unable to be played. As regard* the failure of the Secoud Eleven, want ot practice was the main cause of their poor display. Both iv battiug and bowling the team's averages are very good, the batting average of nine of those who took part in the Junior Cup ranged from 10 to 28 runs per innings, and six of their bowlers hud an average of under ten rune per wicket. Although the third eleven did not prove victors lnthe contest for the President's Cup, it waa a matter for congratulation that the club was lv a position to put a third team iv the field, and they trusted that the members of this eleven (as well as those of the senior eleven) would keep up a system of practising. The report concluded by expressing regret that Messrs E. J. Cotterill and A. Longden, old and active members, had leftChrlstchurch. The lawn tenuis report showed a slighc falling off in the number of members for the season. The receipts were 424 10a, and expenses £12 ISs 3d. The thanks of the Committee were due to the ladles for providing afternoon tea. • The Hagley Park Ground Committee stated that the financial position was satisfactory. Receipts showed JBIBI 10s i 7d, whilst exDenses were £170 0s od, leaving a balance of £11 10s 2d; there were also two outstanding accounts amounting to £2013s 2d. The ground had been top dressed, and other improvements bad been effected. The following officers were elected :— President, Mr iJ. J. S. Harman; VicePresident, Mr John Studholme; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, Mr T. R. Aldred; Committee—Messrs R. B. Mathiaa, W. J. Cotterill, R. D. Harmau. T. D. Uarmau. R. Kitto, Tapper and E. .7. Rosa; Captain (also to be ex-officlo member of Committee), Mr W. J. Cotterill; Delegate to Association, Mr R. B. Mathias; Selection Committee—Messrs R. B. Mathlas, W. J. Cotterill, A. Harman: Junior Selection Committee—Messrs Ross, McDonald and A. W. Harman. A number of new members were elected. Captain Popkaru oilered a pipe, value £1 Is, for best batting average in the Senior eleven, which was received with thanks. Mr T. D. HA.RMAX-moved —"That Senior Cup matches should be confined to two Saturdays, and in the event of a match not being finished on the second day, that it be afterwards decided by a one innings match." After discussion the proposal was lost. Mr R. D. Hauuan proposed and Mr W. J. CoTTKRU.I. seconded—" That all Cup matches start not later than 2.15 p.m.' Carried. Mr Mathias moved and Mr R. I). Habhan seconded—" That not more than thirteen players comprise a Senior Cap team." Carried. It was decided that Saturday, September 26fcb, be the opening day of the season. A vote of thanks to the Chairman ended the proceedings.
