That the candidates were not ca.pa.ble of being elected or hold ing the. offices to wnieli they were declared, duly «kM Tke gmde i the pand petition are :— 1. Xhat the notice of the time and place of the said election, and of the situation of the polling booth was not given in the manner required by the Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876. 2. That the election was not held by a duly qualified and appointed Returning Officer or substitute as required by the Act. 3. That the person who gave the notice of the time and place of the said election, and acted as Returning Officer, was not the Returning Officer of the Oamaru licensing district or his substitute. The petitions are set down for heasing on Friday, the 22nd inst.
