LITTLE RIVER.

The ordinary moeting was held on May Gbh. Present—Messrs Coop, Parkinson, White, and Tαvender. The .Returning Officer reported having held an election of two members in lieu of Messrs Buchanan and Parkinson, resulting in the appointment of Messrs J. H. Parkinson and Francis Tavender. It was proposed by Mr White, seconded by Mr Parkinson, and carried unanimously—" That Mr Coop take the chair for the ensuing year." Mr Coop thanked the Board and took the chair. Specifications were read and approved of, and tenders were opened tor benching about 140 chains part of Okute valley and Hill Top road, and six tenders were received, thac of Messrs Hewitt and -Co., of Akaroa, being accepted. Correspondence was received from Messrs Litten and Co. asking that a part of Port Levy Spur road may be re-formed. Kβsolved—That as it may be desirable to make some deviations in part of this road, that the matter be postponed to next meeting, before which members of the Board will inspect the track, and that, in the meantime, the Chief Surveyor be asked to furnish tracing. The Clerk's action in authorising Messrs Harper and Co. to prepare deeds of transfer of exchange of reads in Terewera Valley be approved of. It being reported that Mr Win. Berne is allowing the Board's property in Sally's Bay to deteriorate, in consequence of allowing the fences, &c, to go to ruin, that he receive notice to vacate same as soon as practicable and give up the property to the Board. An application was received from Mr LeCampion that some repairs may be effected on a culvert abutting on Gebbie's Valley main road. The Clerk was instructed to attend to this matter. The County Council Bate Collector waited on the Board demanding amount 10s 5d rates on reserves, It was resolved—That, as the Board is not aware that Government reserves are liable to local rating, the Council be communicated wich on the subject. Mr Josh. Wright waited on the Board, requesting to be informed if bis property on Island Bay is in this or the Akaroa district. It was resolved—That the Clerk inform Mr Wright that the land is altogether In the Akaroa district. Mr Miller thanked the Board for artesian pipes, and intimated he has been successful In obtaining a good flow of water. From the Ashburton Drug Company, asking for an expression o£ opinion as to result of poisoned grain supplied. From Messrs Brooks and Co. re poisoned wheat. It was resolved—That all rates not paid before next meeting be sued for. After routine business and paying accounts the Board adjourned. As the audited accounts were not returned by audit department the annual ineeting was postponed to June 2nd.
