THE NEW SUBSIDIES. |By Telegraph.] [FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, August 6. A return laid on the table to-day shows how the new Charitable Aid Bill will affect the subsidy paid to each district in the colony. The totals show that subsidies under the Bill will be -.29,237, as against £27,992 under the present system, leaving an excess under the Bill of -21243. Some districts get more and some less than under the present system. Dunedin now gets .£3020, and would get j83769 under the new Bill. Christchurch now gets .£2674, and would get under the Bill Wellington now gets .£3524, and would get .£3175. Auckland now gets JE1502, and would get J23589, being an increase of -22087, " owing to endowments and economy." Hamilton, Waikato, would suffer a decrease of je3ls, Thames J-114, Coromandel .£259. Other districts like Greymouth would gain .£251, Wanganui .£268, and so on.
