TINWALD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
m '■-~-■ The anniversary services in connection with tbe Tinwald Presbyterian Church were held last week. On the Sunday the Rev. J. Elmslie conducted services. On Tuesday the annual tea meeting was held in the Templar Hall, when friends assembled from Ashton, Flemington, Binds and LowclifE, An excellent tea was spread, the tables being presided over by Mrs Cairncross, Misses Cairncross <3), Misses McKeage (3), Miss Donaldson, Mrs Blake, Misses Blake, Grant, Houston, Meharry and Rountree. After tea a public meeting was held, the Rev. A. Blake presiding. The Chairman, in his opening remarks, stated that during the past three years the sum of £293 had been raised and expended on the church building and procuring an organ. Addresses were afterwards given by the Revs. Garbett, J. N. Buttle, Flnlayson, J. Elmslie,. A. M. Beattie and Mr J. W. Sawle. The Rev. Mr Elmslie, during his remarks on Church progress, said that it had been very'marked in the Ashburton County during the past twelve years. The choir, assisted by some friends, sang selections during the evening. The proceedings were very enjoyable, and the gathering was a marked success in every way.
