. The Linwood and Union met on Saturday for the last time this season at Linwood. Both teams had the satisfaction of leaving the ground unbeaten, neither side being able to score. The Linwood have thus completed their sixth draw out of eighteen matches played. The game was very hard fought throughout, both sides striving their utmost for victory, and though Linwood were nearly over the line -several times, they did not succeed in obtaining a try. Henderson and Maurice worked like demons for the Union backs, and McKee and Ebert played best amongst the forwards. Price, Charles worth, and Izett-were the pick of the Linwood backs, whilst Ward and Stapleton wrought bard with the forwards. During the season the Merivale Club has played the following number of matches"* - —First Fifteen—Played 9, won 6, los.t 2, drawn 1• goals and 20 tries (iTpts), against 3 goals. 5 tries (1-pts). Second Fifteen—Played 17, won 15, lost 1, . drawn 1; score—l 2 goals, 38 tries (74pts), against St. tries (2pts). Third Fifteen — Played 13, lost 9, drawn 4; score—9 goals, -3 tries (55pts), against 4 tries <4pts). The First Fifteen rnns second this season in seniority, the Second Fifteen bas won the Junior Cup, and the Third Fifteen has again placed itself at the head.
