NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING COMPANY AND TYSER'S.
[By Telegraph.] [from our correspondent. 1 WELLINGTON, September 2. A rumor is current here that some sort of amalgamation lias been effected between the New Zealand Shipping Company and the Tyser Shipping Company. This report seems to have originated in a version which appeared in the Melbourne Argus of the 20th ult. of a cable message to the effect that Tyser had joined the shipping ring, and " would manage the New Zealand shipping business." This was the shape in which the telegram was published here, but I am informed that in Melbourne the word Company was interpolated making it appear that Tyser would manage the New Zealand Shipping Company's business. On inquiry, lam in formed by Directors of the New Zealand Shipping Company that there is no foundation for this report, and that the shape in which the telegram appeared in New Zea land must have been the correct one. Tyser's agents here also say that they have not a syllable of information on the sub ject. I should regard it as simply an error" on the part of the Argus; but, curiously enough, I learn from private sources in town that at least one importer had received advice that Tysers are loading the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer 3 iv London, and various conjectures are arioat to account for this proceeding. One is that Tysers may have sent their boats into another trade, and transferred the New Zealand business to the New Zealand Company; others point rather to an absorption of the New Zealand Shipping Company into the Tyser organisation. Whatever may be the true state of the case, nothing seems to be definitely known at this end, but a good deal of interest is taken in the matter in mercantile and shipping circles. [We are informed on authority that there is no truth in the statement as to Tyser loading the New Zealand Shipping Company's vessels in London. The Company's ships are now either on the way oud. or are on tJia berth loading on the Compauy's account. It will probably be found that the whole rumor as to the supposed "'amalgamation" has originated in the recent cable message as to Mr Tyser having decided to abandon his isolated attitude in regard to shipping matters.]
