m [By Telegraph.] [from ottb correspondent.! AUCKLAND, September 1. At a meeting' of the Auckland branch of the Federated Seamen's Union, held on Wednesday evening, a resolution was aassed to the effect— " That during the jxisting , dispute between the Maritime Council and Messrs Spreckles, in the matter )f the employment of Chinese on the mail iteamers, members of the Federated Seanen's Union are not to accept work from ;hat firm." A judgment summons case was heard >efore Dr. Giles, E.if '., fliis morning-, in rhich it appeared, from the evidence, that he defendant had no property, as everyhing he had was in his wife's name. The Magistrate stated—" I expect in time this tlarried Woman's Property Act will revou ionise the system of credit. Tradesmen rill have to ask a man if he has been uthorised by his wife to incur debt." ?hi3 naturally caused an amount of aughter. ■he "Waikato farmers do not appear to 'c satisfied with tnsj jpriees they obtain for heir wheat 'In Auckland..: i The ' Waikato Hmea'tL yesterday says:—'«Tbe-Sii3e£&iee a the prices ruling in the Australian aarkets for wheat and flour and those in he market at this colony is most striking, n Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, the verage price for wheat is 3s 4d to 3s t>d «r bushel, and roller fiour is sold at JE7 Os j but in New Zealand, particularly in hispartof it, millerspayamuch lower price or wheat, yet they demand far higherprices or their flour than the Australian millers io with dearer wheat. That is to say the wholesale market rates for roller flour in Luckland are £10 10s and £11 ss. We ■articularise Auckland because in Canterbury flour is fully £3 less, or nearer to the Lustralian prices. The difference between hes<» prices is remarkable and needs exlianation. It is clear some one is reaping i rich harvest, though not the farmers."
