Daring the last week a heavy fall took place in Bank of Adelaide stock, owing to rumours being spread concerning reported heavy losses by embezzlement on the part of the officers. The Bcare becoming marked, the Directors made a public statement to the effect that the Bank had not suffered to tbe extent of a half-penny by the above causes. Confidence has since been considerably restored. Shares are now being sold at 6s premium, ox £4 pud. In February last the shares sold freely at £6 ISs. After threatening for some time, rain has at length visited us, and every one seems more bopefnL In come dis trie—, however, farmers are in a distressed condition, and subscriptions are being started to relieve their distress. SYDNEY, July 6. A discovery of gold is reported to have been made at Norrata Hills, five miles from Stewart's Depot Creek. A miner named Howie first discovered the gold by unearthing a nugget of 60s. Several smaller nuggete have also been found, and asm—il rush has set in. The miners are now making _3 to _4 weekly per man. A party ia now searching for a quartz reef. MELBOUBNE, Jnly 6. Bain has fallen in many parts of the, colony, and farmers are more hopefulL. The rise in wool has given an impetus to trade gen—rally.
