ENGLISH ELECTIONS.

Tbe result of the elections sbo~s that in England 95 Gladstouitee, 1 Parnellite, 265 Ckmservatrvse, aad 44 Unionists have been elected. In Scotland, 38 G-ladsta-ites, 8 Conservatives, and 13 Unionists have been returned. In Wales, 17 Gladstonites, 4 Conservatives, and 3 Unionists. In Ireland, 12 Conservatives and 2 Unionists have gained seats. Mr G. O. Trevelyan was defeated by 30 votes, Mr Joseph Arch by 20, Mr T. Hesley by 138 votes. Mr Gladstone, in reviewing the elec-, tions, stated that Wales and Scotland had seen their duty towards Ireland quickly, bnt that England had yet to learn hers slowly and painfully.
