LIVE STOCK MARKET.
Messrs J. T. Ford and Co. report on the live stock market for the week ending Thursday, the 12th. mat. as follows:—Only 4000 sheep and 170 head of cattle -were sent forward for lost 'Wednesday, at Addiharton, but even that short supply was more than was required, and biddings throughout the sheep and cattle sales were anything bnt spirited. Jlice heifers are worth 35s per lOOlbs, and mntton from Sd to 3Jd per lb. with an npwnrd tendency. The late rains -will have the effect of fresher ing onr pastures and store stock of all descriptions will be in demand. Our entries for the dity were on account of Messrs Maxwell and Mathias, Hmrse, Holmes, Geo. Geddingtt, Keith, Gordon, Satton, P. Elder, Malley. Carlyton, S. Garforth, and others, comprising 2200 sheep, ands4 head of cattle. We topped the market at 20s each, with a line of Mr Harse's sheep of heavy weights and excellent quality: others on the same owner's acconnt, bronifht 17s each. The merino ewes from Bncecoarse Hill were tip top quality, and brought 12s each. Mr Keith's lines brought 193 each., or equal to our quotations for mutton for that day. On Tuesday we held a clearing auction on account TV. B. Tosswill, Esq. at Counenay. The weather was most nnpropitious throoghout the day; however the attendance was pretty good, and fair prices obtained. Horses brought from £30 to £40 each; milch cows from £8 upwards, and farm implements sold at fair values.
