CORN EXCHANGE REPORT.
The following is the report for the week ending Friday evening:— Business in grain this week is completely at a standstill, and as there are oo transactions to note we cannot quote any alterations in values. Flour is still heavily held by millers, and a considerable concession wonld be made to induce business. Wheat—There is absolutely no change to note. Milling, 4s to 4s Id; the season for sowing is now almost over, and we have notransactions to report. Barley—The remark" made last week on this cereal apply equally to this. Prime samples wonld command 5s $d to 5s fid; medium, 4s 6d to 4s 9d. Oats—The demand has very sensibly diminished, and the market weakening. For seed pnrposes there is BMe or no intjniry • Feed are worth 3s 10d to 4s, and milling, 4s 2d to 4e 4d. Bye-Gra"=s—As anticipated, the market this week has be m dull, but doubtless win improve shortly. We anticipate orders from the North, and are now in treaty for several lines for the South part of Canterbury. Grass seeds of all descriptions must increase in value consequent on the large tracts of land being broken up for laying down to permanent pasture. Prime samples are worth 7s to 7s 6d; medium to fair. 5s 6d to 6s; Indly cleaned nnd inferior seed, 3s 6d to 4s; ctjeksfoot, 7d to 7Jd. Potatoes—First-class samples fit for shipment are worth £4 (if guaranteed), bags extra; second qnality, £3 15s. Cheese and Butter—No alteration to note ; any prime coming forward would meet with a ready sale, outside ranrkets behi? bare. Cheese Iss till dall of sale, with little tendency to operate at present valnes. Gcod brands coming forward would realise 5 Jd.
