Wednesday, February 12. [Before G. L. Mellish. Esq, R.M.] Cattle Trespass—Gilbert. McCandlish, on the information of John Mcßriar, was charged with haviDg allowed a bull to trespass on land belonging to the latter. Complainant did not wish to see a penalty inflicted, but wanted the defendant cautioned to keep the bull properly fastened up. Defendaut said if complainant's fence was a Itgal one it would keep the animal from trespassing. The Resident Magistrate observed that it was dangerous to allow such animals to get at large and fined defendant 20s and costs.

Civil Cases—J. Briggs, collector of education rate for West- Oxford district v D. Fisher, claim 17s 6d. The amount had been paid into Court since last Court day, but the costs were disputed, defendant alleging thathe hadpromised to pay the amount. The Resident Magistrate held that the money should.actually have been offered to entitle defendant to a judgment. . Judgment for plaintiff for costs as claimed.
