Whakatane Harbour Board To Gather Port Evidence

The Whakatane Harbour Board has commenced the task of gathering evidence to support Whakatane as the site for the deep sea harbour for the Bay of Plenty. This is to b& placed before the special committee set up to hear evidence on the Whakatane and Tauranga proposals. The amount of/informal'on that would be required was considered by the board at a special meeting on Monday. The chairman, Mr W. R~ Boon, expressed satisfaction c.f the appointment of the committee and said he felt sure that both schemes would be fully consid&ed on their merits before the final decision was made.
