HOME GUARD
INTERESTING WORK
reconnaissance; patrols
Leaving the parade ground for the admirably suitable country for manouvres on Hillcrest the Home Guard on Sunday found the programme arranged very interesting. Following a lecture of instruction delivered by Mr A. Carling, who recently underwent a course at Narrow Neck, four -reconnaissance patrols were formed. These patrols keenly performed their tasks and on their return were found by the instructor to have made few errors. He complimented the men on the ready grasp of the work. The parade was a better one than usual and officers stated that full and more regular attendance was necessary if the best was to be obtained from the instruction. On Sunday next jilatoons will be carrying out defensive and attacking manoeuvres.
