Distrubution Of New Motor-Cars By N.Z. Government
Suggestion Made In
House
Proposal Greeted With Some Enthusiasm
(P.A.) Wellington, July 1. The suggestion that it was about time the Government took over the distribution of new motor-cars coming into the country was made by Mr P. Kearins (Government — Waimarino), seconder of the motion for the Address-in-Rcply, in the House of representatives tonight. The proposal was greeted with some enthusiasm by a number of members on the Government benches. The mover was Mr W. W. Freer (Government —Mount Albert), the youngest member of the House, who spoke appreciatively of the achievements of secondary industries. He said he could not agree with the Opposition that the young people of the Dominion wanted freedom first and foremost: freedom was not as important to the nation as security. The House adjourned at 9.25 p.m. until 10.30 a.m. tomorrow, when discussion of a number of bills introduced on Wednesday will be begun. The Address-in-Reply debate will be opened on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m.; when the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Holland, will speak.
