LOANS PUT TO GOOD USE
MORE WORKERS IN INDUSTRY BRITISH REPLY TO CRITICISM London, Sept. 28. A British Government spokesman has replied to charges that the Government has frittered away the American and Canadian loans. He declared that both loans had been put to good use. More capital investments amounting to £1,400,000,000 had been created. There were more; workers in industries than when the loans were granted. More than 500,000 people had been rehoused and Britain had gone far in repairing her wartime losses of merchant ships. Today, he added, Britain was in far better shape to meet the demands of commerce than it would have been.
