BOOED BY STUDENTS
MR CALWELL COUNTED OUT PRESIDENT OF UNIVERSITY INTERVENES Adelaide, May 25. Four hundred University students counted out, booed and jeered at tbp Minister cf Immigration, Mr A. A. Calwell, when be addressed them at Adelaide University yesterday. When he referred to the coal miners Mr Calwell was counted cut
and there was more uproar when questions were asked about politi-
cians’ pay-. Students hurled pennies on to the platform during one part of: the meeting, and one student, waved the Red Flag under the Minister’s nose every time he began to speak. A notice was pinned in front of Mr Caldwell’s table reading, “Passports for Manila. Apply here.” The president of the University Union, Mr S. Jacobs, gestured Mr Calwell aside, and warned the
students that disciplinary action would be taken unless they desisted. From then on Mr Calwell talked on the referendum proposals and the Press in comparative quiet.
