MOUNT MAUNGANUI
TOWN BOARD Monthly Meeting Held Resignation of Mr E. C. Banks (From Our Own Correspondent) The monthly meeting of the Mount Alaimgantii Town Board was held on Monday evening last, when there were present Commissioners S. E. Macdonald (in the chair). S. F. New ton. A. AV. Tapp end en. J. T. Thomson, C. AlcXaughton and C. J. AVest.
The vacancy on the board caused by the resignation of Commissioner E. C. Banks was filled by the appointment of Air R. F. AAard. The position with regard to Alount Maunganui’s representation on th.e Tauranga Electric Power Board caused by the resignation of Air Banks, and the action of the Power Board in deciding not to accept the resignation but to grant Air Banks leave of absence was discussed. The view was that the Power Board should accept the resignation, otherwise Alount Alaunganui would not be represented for an indefinite period, and it was decided to advise the Power Board accordingly. In his monthly report the foreman outlined the work done during the past month, particular reference being made to the planting of trees on roadsides and in reserves, and he made suggestions which he considered would result in an improvement in growth.
An application was received from Mrs L. B. Mellish for spoil for levelling and improving the road frontages of her section. It was decided to reply that any owner or tenant could take soil, at his own expense, from areas approved by the chairman of the works committee, providing such soil is used for road frontages.
It was reported that arrangements had been made for the hiring of a grader and a bulldozer, so that scheduled work of road making and road improvements would be commenced within a few days.
