MALTA’S STING
ATTACKERS ROUTED
Many Planes Shot Down
Island’s Bag Mounts
London, Oct. 14
Yesterday .15 more Axis planes were destroyed over Malta when the enemy made further attempts to blitz the island’s defences. This brings the total destroyed for certain since the attack began on Saturday to GO. This is the minimum score. Many more have been badly damaged. Th.e enemy has little to show for his mounting losses over the island. Our Spitfires meet eaclj wave as it comes across and few r of the attackers get through to be dealt with by the terrific anti-aircraft barrage, said to be the heaviest in the woVld. All attacks have been successfully broken up before any military damage has been done.
Some of our fighters have been to Sicily where they destroyed two enemy bombers, one over the island. Malta has now destroyed over 10 00 enemy planes since the war began.
