AUTUMN FLOWER SHOW (Prom Our Correspondent) The Te Puke Horticultural Society held its annual autumn show in McDowell’s Hall yesterday and the standard of the exhibits was well up to that of previous seasons. The following were the successful exhibitors: — Cut Flower Section Dahlias.—Giant Decorative Class (specimen bloom) —Mrs J. CRICKET The Roto-Ehu cricket team were successful in lifting the Ringer Cup, when they defeated the holders, Maketu, at Maketu, during the week-end. The Ringer Cup is a challenge trophy and all teams in [he district west of Matata and east 3f Te Puke are eligible to compete. In the match, Maketu went in first and only collected 30 runs. Roto-Ehu replied with 52 runs. Maketu fared aetter in the second innings with i score of 51 runs, and left RotoEhu 30 runs to make, These were tot secured until after a struggle, Etoto-Ehu losing seven wickets t igainst good bowling and fielding ; iy Maketu. There was considerable J rxcitement in the final stages of the ’ natch. Country Competition.— Pukehina * lefeated Pongakawa during the 1 veek-end in the Steele Cup compe- } ition. i
