YACHT CLUB

CARD EVENING AND PICTURE ENTERTAINMENT Mr and Mrs P. F. Carter lent their home last evening, for a 500 card tournament: those who did not play cards were entertained by Mr B. Sladden with lantern slides of his many trips round the coast, particularly a visit to White Island. Many studies of gannets, muttonbirda and tuataras were shown, and were extremely interesting and educative. A number of beautiful coloured views of Mayor Island, were also shown.

The five hundred tournament was won by Mr W. Waters who received

a pack of cards

Mrs Carter received the guests in a pretty frock of royal blue georgette and lace, and she was assisted by Mrs W. Stevens who was in deep red georgette. The rooms were prettily decorated with bowls of flowers, and ornamental berries.

Supper was served, after which Mr Sladden very kindly showed the pictures again for the benefit of the card players, and it was well after midnight before the party ended, Mr and Mrs Carter, and Mr Sladden being heartily thanked for their kindness.
