Malr, speaking at a meeting called in Wanganui to discuss the Development League's afforestation There was never a time more than the present when owners of large blocks of land felt they Avould rather have smalled lots. They would i sooner have half the land productive than the whole of it an expiring asset. “The man who owns freehold property holds a trust for posterity," said Mr Mair “and he should not allow it to deteriorate and become a lost asset to the people of the Dominion." At the present state of the produce market there was no money available for farmers to redevelop their land; but a tremendous lot of It could be made highly productive if it were cut up Into smaller areas.
