PETROL TAX

ALLOCATIONS TO BOKOUGHS. The Minister of Public Works, Hon. E. A. Ransom, has prepared a statement showing the petrol tax distribution for the quarter ended September 30. The sum. of £17,913 is available for distribution among cities and boroughs of a population of more than 6000. Taking into account the population in each case the Minister has approved the following allocation, the districts being boroughs unless otherwise stated; — Whangarei, £196; Takapuna, £188; Devonport, £281; Auckland City, £2810; Mount Albert, £543; Mount, Eden, £538; Onehunga, £307; Hamilton, £408; Gisborne, £376; Napier. £442; Hastings. £301; New Plymouth, £414; Wanganui City, £685; Palmerston North, £543: Mastierton, £233; Lower Hutt, £319; Petone, £292; Wellington City, £2906. Nelson City, £290; Greymouth, £165; Christchurch City, £2415; Timaru, £445; Oamaru, £204; Dunedin City, £1844; St. Rilda, £224; Invercargill, £543.
