OPIUM CASE
■JSS. TAURANGA APPEAL. Fails COSTS AND -EXPENSES ALLOWED. (Per Press Association) Auckland, April 23 The Chinese opium appeals failed, costs £7 7/- and expenses being allowed the Crown in each case. We understand that the above refers to the opium case heard in Tauranga some months ago, when a Chinaman was fined £SO and another £25. One of the convicted men appealed on the ground that there was not an interpreter at th hearing of th# cam.
