KATIKATI ROAD BOARD

The monthly meeting of the above took place in the Hall, Katikati, on Saturday April Bth, aU but Messrs Fletcher and Hoing being present. The minutes of March meeting were read and confirmed. The Returning Officer asked election day to be fixed, suggesting Tuesday, May 2nd ; Saturday Gth was considered preferable . Bank of N. Z. sent passbook, and requested borrowing resolution to be signed and forwarded. — This j was done. Mr D. Foley requested repairs on Maori Flat road. —The Road Overseer having inspected the ground and considering the case urgent, was instructed to prepare specifications and call for tenders retursable at next meeting.

Mr E. F. Buckworth requested repairs on lower part Te Aroha track, especially on swamps crossed.— Mr Boyd to examine and report at next meeting. % Mr A. Diggelmann requested new culvert and repairs on his road. Timber estimated to oost £1. Overseer to examine aod report. Mr Bnekwprth as agent offered Mrs Dalzell's section to the Board as a public landing place for £50, including large store shed. Hon. Clerk directed to apply to Minister of Marine for a sufficient grant to purchase land and make suitable wharf, say £70. Piako County Council Vhanked Board for their Suggestions as to expenditure of Thompson's track grant, having decided on consideration to carry on the work as far as possible as suggested, then applying for a further grant. — The Hon. Clerk 1 was directed to thank the Council for this compliment. Chairmans letter to Under Secretary of Mines on this subject was approved by the Board, on the^ motion of Messrs Killen and Wilson, unanimously. Accountfrom W. and H. Stewart for Kauri Point road repairs, £4 1 4s 6d, passed for payment, Land fund account. Mr Fletcher's notice of motion lapsed, Mr- M. J. Stewart applied for £1 for Mr Marlow for repairs on Woodlands road. — Resolved that Mr Marlow apply personally, or by letter, for any payment not authorized. Draft balance sheet was not ready, but promised for next meeting. Map tobe bound in Valuation Roll.

Resolution of thanks to Auckland Lands Board, for reserving Katikati Heads, was passed unanimously. The Treasurer's motion to rate again deferred till after election. Mr M. J. Stewart brought up matter of a cart-bridge over the Te Mania. Mr Goodridge, for residents,, promised liberal local assistance, as saviug several miles to county bridge and cheese-factory road. Timber estimated at £8, and earthwork as much more. — Resolved that Mr Boyd inspect and report at next meeting, as to cost and most suitable site available. A telegram being received from Capt. Alexander A.D.0., that-His Excellency Lord Ranf urly would be in Katikati on 11th prox., the Board went into Committee and resolved that £7 10a be voted Mrs Boyd as a bonus. The Board to be a Reception Committee and canvass for tickets for a dinner, with power to add names. Mr Buckworth added. Mr M.Preston to be Hon. Secretary. Complimentary tickets to be sent to Sir G. M. O'Rorke, (ex-Miuister of Lands and signer of Katikati deeds), to Mr Herries and to Bay of Plenty Times and Waihi Miner proprietors. Next Committee meeting m Hall, 15th met at 3 p.m.
