THE FLAGS.

vOn Saturday Capt. Farquhar was interviewed by the Mayor and kindly promised to obtain j quotations for the flags which it is desired to purchase for the Monmouth Redoubt Staff, both, four yards long an 4 £ye yarde, also for them sewQ and printed. The latter cost much less than the former and there seems to be considerable difference of opinion as to their relative merits, value and durability. It is claimed for the printed bunting that; it flys much lighter, owing to the absence of heavy seams, and also, on the same account, wears less ; the colours are said to be equally as fast and lasting as the other. It may be mentioned that the flag which was flying on Friday afternoon was of the printed variety which now seem to be much more extensively used than the sewn both for shipping and general purposes.
