Expected Reduction of Properly Tax.
The Colonial Treasurer anticipates being ablo to provide for the interest on the new loan without any increase of taxation ; indeed, it is expected that tlioro will be some slight relicf — probably ■ a reduction of the the property tax from 3s 4d to Is 2d, and reduction of a few items. in the Customs. Tho Treasurer will have a surplus of £240,0.00 with which to -commence the year. On 31st March there was a balance of £900,000 to credit of Public Works account. This will bo amply sufficient to carry on with 'and to prevent any check till tho new loan is received.
