TOWN BOARD
A special meeting of the Town Board was lield in their onice-j Government Building.-*, on Thursday morning sit eleven o'clock. Present: Messrs T. D. Wrigley, G. D. Smith, and E. M. Edgcumbe. The business for which members met was to elect a Chairman and Treasurer, and to appoint a Secretary and Collector for the ensuing year. On the proposition of Mr Wrigley, Mr Edgcumbc was voted to the chair. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. Mr G. D. Smith proposed that Mr. E. M. Edgcumbe be Chairman of the Tauranga North Township Highway Board for the ensuing year. Mr T. D. Wrigley in seconding the motion said it was with great pleasure he did so, and he was happy to think other members were of the same opinion. The day Mr Kirk went to Maketu he had told him he was sorry he coxild not attend the meeting, but that he was in favor of Mr Edgcumbe as Chairman for the ensiling year. Mr Smith said he had also seen Mr Bark, who had given him a proxy to use in Mr Edgcumbe' s behalf. ;' ..The proposition having been put to the Board, was curried unanimously. Mr Edgcumba, in acknowledging the compliment, said " It gives me great pleasure to know that I 'have, after being for the last two years Chairman of the Board, been again placed in that position by my co-Trustees, and I trust that I shall always be found doing my duty by them and the ratepayers to the best of my ability." THE TREASTJEEESHIP. On the proposition of Mr G. D. Smith, seconded by the Chairman, Mr T. D. Wrigley was unanimously elected Treasurer for the ensuing year. TIIE SECRETARYSHIP. On the proposition of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Smith, Mr John Harris McCaw was appointed Secretary and Collector for the ensuing year. The Board then adjourned to the Ist of August, at 3 p.m.
