ANNUAL REPORTS,

The following are the principal extracts from the printed annual reports, to be presented at the congregational annual meeting'on Wednesday evening, 27th inst, Report of Deacons' Court,

In submitting its* Report for the year, the Deacons' Court has pleasure in stating that, notwithstanding the long continued vacancy in the pastorate, with its accompanying disorganisation of many of the activities of the church, the finances are in a very sound position. The receipts from the ordinary Sunday collections show a falling off of £6s 13s 1 id, due largely to the closing ot the Church for several weeks during the influenza epidemic, Thete is also a decrease of £7 8s in the amount received from seat rents. The total Expenditure in the Congregational Account was 6s 6d as against 2s 1 id for the vious year. This year's total, how ever, included a very heavy item—;£B6 is 3d for Sunday School sup* plies, and also £4O which had to be transferred to the Debt Extinction Fund to make up a deficiency in that fund. A slight falling off to the amount of £2 8s 6d is noticed in the SustentationFund. The total received for all mission purposes amounted to 11s nd. For the 'previous year the amount was 4 s but this included special bequests amounting to ;£ioo. Special collections show a big drop of from 16s 8d to 4s rod. It has to be remembered, however, two special appeals were made during the previous year, one for the Old People's Home and one for John McGlashan College, these increasing the usual amount by about £96, The collections for the Chaplaincy Fund were also discontinued during the year. At the beginning of-the year the Church lost the services of Mr J. W. Petrie, through his removal to Gore. Mr Petrie had done faithful work as treasurer for over 15 years, and the Court thought it was only fitting that his services should be recognised in a practical way, and a presentation was accordingly made to him at a public gathering held in the Coronation Hall. Mr G. H. Thomson kindly undertook the duties of treasurer on Mr Petrie's departure, and is carrying out his work in the same satisfactory way, J. S. Inglis, Clerk of Deacons' Court, ** Sunday School.

This department is very much favored in the faithful band of teachers, who most regularly come along to help in the work of seeking to instil into the minds of the children those truths which are calculated to make boys and girls of good healthy character, and which should fit them for the sterner work of the days to come. The attendance on the whole is good although it could be better, A number are most faithful in their attendance, The conduct is good and although the amount of interest taken by the scholars is also good, yet a greater interest might be taken at home, and so make the work ot the school more lasting, As usual all of the age of 15 year moved up from the Sunday School to the Junior Bible Class. Wm. Roy, Superintendent (Continued on back page.)
