Mr Arthur Milne, for Borne time past associated with the National Mortgage and Agency Co. at Milton, is transferring to Dunedin. Bis place will be filled by Mr Alex. Byars. Mr and Mrs John Thomson, Milton, have received advice from the Defence authorities that their son, Private Bobt. Thomson (2lßt Beinforcements) is suffering from an injured knee cap, which was accidentally sustained in the tren* ches on the Western Front. He was an inmate of Walton -on>.Thaines Hospital, but has recently been transferred to a convalescent hospital near Sling Camp, Mr W. J. Braven, who has been a resident of Mt, Stuart for the last eleven years, was presented by his fellow residents and those of Murray's Flat with a travelling rug as a mark of the high esteem in which he is held, and Mrs Braven was also the recipient of a haadsome cake basket. Mr and Mrs Braven are leaving to take up land at Lochiel in Southland, and aB they have been greatly loved on account of their exemplary neighborliness, the residents felt that they oould not let them go without giving some expression to their feelings, The presentation was made by Mr W. Blaikie, who suitably ex* pressed the good wishes of the givers,— Tuapeka Times.
