ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
[press association.] NAPIER, This Day. The Belle dome company of bellringers had a narrow escape from serious accident en route to Wairoa. When the coach was ascending the Tongoio Hill the party got out and walked, which was fortunate for them, as when near the top the king bolt broke, and the coach went over the cliff, a fall of 60 feet, and was badly smashed. The driver escaped uninjured. LTAMLLTOV, This Day. A middle-aged man named D. Kenny, employed as a ganger at Frankton Junction station, was seriously crushed last night between a truck and a coal stage. He was removed to the hospital with a fractured pelvis, and internal injuries. His condition is serious.
William Thomson aged about 23 years, met with a fatal accident in a gravel pit near Marton yesterda}-. He was engaged in loading a cart with metal when a fall of gravel came down burying him to the armpits and causing a bad fracture of the thigh and internal injuries. Gradually he sank from the shock and died five hours later. His parents reside at Taihape. Patrick Gallagher, employed as a fireman on a dredge at Dunedin was killed at about 2.30 yesterday morning by slipping and falling into the driving belt of the main engine. One arm was severed from the body. Deceased was about 33 years of age and was a widower with one child.
