A.A. RELIEF PARCELS
BOMBED FAMILIES AIDED "Up until May, 1945, the Auckland Automobile Association had .sent 599 parcels to Britain, and we have been notified that 581 have arrived," said the secretary of the association, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, yesterday with reference to a Press- Association cablegram from London which stated that a gift of chocolate had been received and would be distri-buted-among the children of Britain. "We started sending parcels four years ago at the rate of 15 a month to the Automobile Association of Great Britain," said Mr. Hutchison, "and as the bombing intensified this was increased to 40 a month. The parcels have been distributed by the British association through relief 'committees to people who have suffered as a result of bombing raids, and we have received manj' letters of appreciation from Lord Mayors of cities and recipients themselves." Mr. Hutchison also paid tribute to a local home-cooking firm which had donated 100 31b fruitcakes in sealed tins and had assisted materially in contributing to local patriotic activities.
