IMPROPER USE OF PHONE
The- use of obscene language over the telephone was admitted by a youth who appeared on summons in the Police Court this morning.
Detective-Sergeant Aplin said four offences were committed between June 1 and July 23. On a number of occasions the youth had telephoned a married woman. He had also telephoned three other women and on each occasion had made use of very disgusting language. "This sort of thing is rampant in Auckland and it gives the post office authorities and the police much, trouble," added Mr. Aplin. Mr. Aekins, who represented the youth, said the offences were inexplicable. The defendant, who had an excellent home and most respectable parents, could give no reason for committing them.
The magistrate adjourned the case for two weeks to enable the defendant to be examined by a psychiatrist. Defendant's name was suppressed.
