NEW AWARD ISSUED

HOSPITAL ENGINE DRIVERS

Wage increases retrospective to April 1 are made in the New Zealand Hospital Boards' engine drivers', firemen and greasers' award issued by the Arbitration Court. The new weekly rates for engine drivers range from £6 1/8 to £6 11/8, plus the Court's two bonuses. The weekly increases are 11/8.

Youths employed as firemen or assistants are to be,paid £4 10/ a week if under 19 years of age and ordinary rates if 19 years or more. Provision is made for three weeks' annual holiday on full rates of pay. Shifts may be worked provided that when thev are begun after mid-day, or before C a.m., a special rate of 2/ a shift be paid.
