CONSTABLE STRUCK

OFFENDER SENT TO GAOL/ On a charge of assaulting Constable D. Mullett yesterday, Rangi Te Waka Hanna, a labourer, aged 26, appeared before Messrs. T. Trebilcoe and S. T. Carter, J.P.'s, in the Police Court this morning. Sub-Inspector Sparks said the constable nad occasion to question a Maori girl and Hanna interfered by trying to pull the girl away. When spoken to by Constable Mullett the accused struck the constable and ran away, but was chased and caught. The Bench sentenced Hanna to one month's imprisonment.
