POSTAL FACILITIES

DOMINION ROAD SOUTH BETTER ACCOMMODATION The Postmaster-General, Mr. Webb, has written to Mr. A. S. Richards, M:P. for Roskill, concerning his representations "on behalf of the Mt. Roskill Resident and Ratepayers" Association in respect to the Dominion Road South post office. The Minister said the Post and Telegraph Department had at last been able to make arrangements for better accommodation there. A shop building was being erected., close to the existing post office and on completion would be leased by the Department and used exclusively for post office purposes. All facilities would be provided, including a money-order and savings bank branch. A full-time postmistress would be placed in charge. The Minister said the arrangement would enable a first-class service to be given at Dominion Road South, but the growth of the district necessitated further planning for the future. The question of obtaining a suitable site for the erection of a departmental building was now under consideration.
