TOURIST TRAFFIC
PLANS FOR INCREASE
POST-WAR DEVELOPMENT

A big expansion of the tourist industry after the war is indicated by the appointment of the Tourist Development Committee of Organisation for National Development.
The committee will prepare plans to increase tourist traffic. The committee consists of the Minister of the Tourist Department, Mr. Parry (chairman) and Mr. J. Thorn, Parliamentary Under-Secretary to the Prime Minister (deputy-chair-man), Mr. L. J. Schmitt, general manager, and Mr. J. Houston, assist-ant-general manager of the Tourist Department, Mr. T. Barrow, Secretary for Air, Mr. R. G. Macmorran, Under-Secretary for Lands. Mr. H. F. Norman, representing the shipping and air services, Mr. P. Coyle, representing hotel employers, Mr. F. Young, M.L.C., and Mr. R. A. Brooks, representing the hotel workers, Mr. J. W. Nissen, Ministry of Works, and Mr. H. C. Langford, commercial manager of the Railways Department.
At a preliminary meeting on Tuesday Mr. Parry emphasised the importance of the committee's functions in co-ordinating the efforts of all interests linked in tourist activities, particularly transport, accommodation and advertising.
