SIR BIAN MOVES NICELY
LITTLE WORK AT TAKAJ.INI Although the outside grass at. Takanini was in fair order this morning there were very few gallops, most of the horses being restricted to serviceable pace work on the plough.
Sir Bian and H'azroy attracted attention bv running half a mile from the five to the one in 49 4-ss, both horses working well, particularly Sir Bian.
Stepping was easing up at the conclusion of a similar task in 52 l-ss, while Peter Gregor, on the bit. clocked 52 2-ss.
Richelieu and Hayduk snowed evidence of improvement by covering five furlongs nicely in 1.4, La FilleUe (going easily) taking 1.5 3-5. Altess completed his task by traversing the last three furlongs in 41s.
SPRINTING AT ELLERSLIE Fast work at Ellerslie this morning was done on the No. 1 grass track, on which the poles were out sft. The going was in order.
The maiden, Tough Guy, left four furlongs behind in 50s, and was galloping freely at the finish. In a similar task, Recipient took 51 l-ss, but could have gone faster.
Cowper ran the last three furlongs of his work in 38 3-ss, and the two-year-olds, Abaris, Tagore and Gaelic Salute, covered the same distance in similar time.
Volifox was going nicely at the end of seven furlongs, which took 1.32 3-5. The Foxbridge mare is very well.
Lady Reynard was sent over a round, and got through her task in 1.53, the last seven furlongs taking 1.32 4-5.
Broielov was not bustled while run ning three furlongs in 40 3-ss.
Elect was going much better than Mashona and Ross. throughout five furlongs in 1.5 2-5.
