TIDELESS SMART FILLY

ENGAGED AT WELLINGTON Tideless, owned by Mr. W. Glenn, put up a fine performance in running second in the sprint event at Hawera, as she was last away because of jumping back when the tapes went up. She was still last at the half mile, several lengths behind Plato Lad, which led all the way. The Tiderace filly finished well to get up within a length of the winner in 1.25 4-5. With the minimum in the Thompson Handicap, Tideless may trouble the best of those engaged.

Mr. Glenn will also be represented at Trentham by Sunblaze, which ran a great race at Hawera in the Nolan Cup, in which he had the big load of 10.1. The son of Broiefort had two checks on the way, otherwise he might have won, instead of running second. Sunblaze has been a very consistent performer. Last season he had one win, two seconds, three thirds and two fourths, and this term his record reads three wins, four seconds and one third. The Broiefort gelding is engage.d in the Champion Hack at Trentham and although he has top weight he will take a power of beating. Alderman, winner of the juvenile event at Hawera, won so well that it is hard to say how good he is. The son of Ninth Duke has won in both his starts to date, and he promises to keep the best of his opponents busy in the Plunket Handicap at Trentham.

The Wanganul-owned Rink is expected to run a big race in the Autumn Handicap at Trentnam on Saturday. He is nicely weighted with 8.2, and the distance, one mile and a half, should suit him.

Corday was not started at Hawera, but lie is in great fettle, and his connections look to him to run prominently in the Thompson ll&ivlicap.

MAY START IN RAIL,WAT Killeymoon has been made a firm prepost favourite for the Thompson Handicap, but it is not certain that this will be his mission at Trentham on Saturday. He has an engagement also in the Railway Handicap, and what race he runs in will not be decided till he has his final gallop at Trentham. As he has not had a race since winning the Anniversary Handicap at Trentham in January it would occasion no surprise to find the shorter race chosen for Killeymoon.

NOT IN THE RACE! Ironical luck has been experienced by the Trentham trainer W. H. Hume in respect to compulsory ballots at Wellington meetings. In four instances he has had a candidate in a race that was over the safety limit, and the luck of the draw went against him. Great March was balloted out twice, Cramond Bay once, and Bonneive once. At the coming meeting he will not now have a single representative racing.
