The manpower officer welcomed any opportunity to give assistance to the Mental Hospital. It felt sympathetically towards the appellants However, he had no other alternative to refusing termination of their present employment. Miss V M. Cussen, lady superintendent at the Auckland Hospital said that, a number of nurses had been released for training, and had not returned after receiving it. The appellants did not want to be mental hospital nurses but wanted to collect a certificate. . ' The chairman, Mr. J. 0. Liddell: The point is that the certificate would help them in the future. Witness agreed and suggested that in six months' time the appellants would be able to leave. The committee reserved its decision.
