BETTER SERVICE

HOWICK BUS TRANSPORT Improved transport facilities for residents of Howick district are being provided as a result of a decision by the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority, Mr. E. J. Phelan. Recently a deputation, led by Mr. C. R. Petrie, M.P., waited on the Authority, and better transport facilities for the district were urged. The secretary of the Howick Residents' Bus Committee has been advised that the new timetable submitted has been approved, and will be put into operation as soon as possible. Mr. Phelan said this morning that the new timetable would provide for several extra trips each day, and two in-and-out trips on Sundays. He added that the Howick people had accepted wartime transport restrictions in a good spirit. Later, if it were possible, the timetable would be further improved.
