FLOOD OF PAMPHLETS
IN AUCKLAND KIjECTORATES A veritable flood of electioneering literature has descended on many Aucklanders during the past fortnight or so. In some electorates, where more than four or five candidates are contesting the seat, the deluge has been extraordinary, Remuera, for which there are six candidates, having been outstanding.' One resident says that over the past ten days he has had nearly 20 pamphlets, despite the paper shortage. They have run all the way from an octavo sheet done on a duplicator, and containing no more than about a dozen lines of typescript, to two 16-pagers, both got out for the Labour party, one incorporating art paper and the other laid out in newspaper style. Both arrived the same day, and were delivered by hand together with two other Labour pamphlets.
Apart from party literature and the literature of individual candidates, pamphlets dealing with the licensing issue have helped to choke letter boxes.
