DISCHARGE FROM ARMY
PRIVATE AGED 13J YEARS
(0.C.) SYDNEY, May 13. Much to his disappointment, Private William George Davis, 13$ years old, has been discharged from the army. In September last year, by giving his age as 18, he almost got into the A.I.F. An officer, catching him off his guard, asked him if he had shaved, and he thoughtlessly replied that he didn't have to. That was the end of that.
Later Davis made another attempt to enlist, and was told he should have been registered for the militia. He registered and was called up, but when his mother found what had happened he soon found himself out of the army again. His father is home, after having fought with the A.I.F. in Malaya.
