GOOD TRAINING EFFORT TODAY'S TRIALS AT TE RAP A (O.C.') HAMILTON, this day. A solid effort over a round by Erndale and Glen Council was a feature of the work at To liapa this morning, when the going on the course proper, some 25 feet out from the rails, was holding, following heavy overnight rain. Rain fell during the course of the morning and the track became heavier as the programme progressed. Withal the programme was a comparatively restricted one. It was the first fast work allotted the Greek Shepherd •fillv and her effort was distinctly pleasing. There was little between Vaalsmoss (Fenton) and Acquest (Meynel!) over five furlon<js in 1.5 2-.". the first three furlongs being cut out in Acquest, who indicated an early return to the winning list at 'lie recent To Hapa meeting, shaped well. Erndale (Muir) and Glen Connell (Fenton) were associated over a round, the latter, who had a substantial pull in the weights, shading his companion at the completion of the effort, noth are in lanital order for engagements ahead, and Erndale. who is engaged in the big race at Ellerslie on Saturday, appeals as being hard to beat as he is still handily placed in the weights.
Royal Son (Goiiopi was doing better than Tea Drop (.1. Mclnally) over the deciding stages of five furlongs in 1.5 4-5. Eastern Heir < McFn.illy). who appears to be all the better for his racing, finished clear of Karatoki (Gollop) at the completion of a circuit in 2.6.}, the first five furlongs bein<r traversed In 1.11 1-5. Gay Streak (Gollon) and Cappv (Groshinski) got to the end of sis furlongs in 1.2:"! 1-5. tiie initial five furlongs taking 1.8 1-5. Pe'er Douglas (Mej'nell), who is bearing a healthy aopearance, hit out over five furlongs in 1.8 3-5. Laughing Fox (Hain). who was sent along after the interval, occupied 1.9 for five furlongs, Penzance (Hain) following in 1.8 2-5.
