CRIMES ADMITTED
LABOURER FOR SENTENCE (0.C.) WHANGAREI, this day. Pleading guilty in the Wharigarei Court this morning to four indictable charges; Henry Ernest Sterling (37), labourer, was committed to the Auckland Supreme Court for sentence. Sterling was charged with unlawfully converting to his own use at Paparoa a car valued at £400, breaking and entering the Waiotira railway station and committing theft, attempting to break and enter the Waiotira post office with intent to commit a crime, and breaking and entering the shop of the Beehive Stores, Limited, and committing theft. On a charge, to which he pleaded guilty, of stealing six gallons of petrol valued at 16/3 at Paparoa, he was convicted and discharged.
Detective J. B. Finlay said Sterling had a long list and was at present serving a sentence of four months' imprisonment. In addition, he was to go before the Auckland Supreme Court on several charges of breaking, entering and theft, as well as those to which he had pleaded guilty to-day.
