RAIL CONCESSIONS
MEMBERS OF ARMED FORCES (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The extent of travelling concessions to the armed forces was explained by the acting-Prime Minister, Mr. Nash, in the House of Representatives yesterday when replying to an urgent question asked by Mr. Burnett (National, Temuka). Mr. Burnett asked if the Government would extend the privilege of free passes on the railways to all members of the armed forces including nurses and chaplains, prior to their proceeding for service overseas. Members of the armed forces, including nurses and chaplains, were granted free travel to their homes or places of enlistment when proceeding on final leave, said Mr. Nash. They could also travel at reduced rates between the three main camps and three main cities, and were granted concessions of a third reduction on the ordinary fare dining long journeys.
