SPITFIRE FUND

ALL, MONEY PAID • OVER (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. With the permission of the House an immediate reply was made by the acting Prime Minister, Mr. Nash, in the House of Representatives Yesterday to a notice of question bvMr. Broadfoot (National, Waitomo) relating to the Spitfire Fund. Mr. Broadfoot's question was whether the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, would advise the House if the amount collected for the Spitfire Fund was approximately £156,000; whether only £D 1.000. including exchange, was remitted to London, and what was done with the balance of the fund. Mr. Nash said that the whole of the money subscribed to the Spitfire Fund was sent to London between September, 1940, and March Hill and was paid over for the purpose for which it was given. "Hear, hears" from the Government benches greeted this announcement. "He's another Spitfire"' interjected the Minister of Public Works Mr. Armstrong.
